by Sue Clement, Chair of the Stewardship Committee
This past year, the Stewardship Team has been plagued with conflicting work schedules, health issues and many other personal items that saw an irregular schedule for meetings.
Stewardship would regularly meet on the second Monday of every month. The team currently consists of Sue Clement, Chair and Bob Davies, Alison Quaratesi and Chris Liew as our Treasurer.
We welcome back Chris, who kindly agreed to assist Carole and I, and we are so grateful that he is back with us!
Projects or Quotes that have taken place or are currently being worked on are as follows:
1. New camera system installed for the safety of our Administrative Coordinator, Emily, and the various groups that rent our facilities.
2. The retroactive payment of the cellular tower and removal of the tower from the property.
3. The lighted front lawn sign has been repaired
4. The flooding of the lower levels due to a baptistry in need of repair. A quote of $11,000.00 was obtained to completely remove the current baptistry and install and tile a new tub and stairs.
Further investigation of a possible renovation is currently being done, with an inspection of the under carriage of the baptistry tub, a new drain, a non-slip, pool liner type material. The quote for this will be available and announced at the Annual Dinner.
5. A quote for energy efficient lighting in the gym area and other church areas has been completed. The initial outlay is quite high, however, the savings through Ontario Hydro per year will show significant savings by the end of 2 1/2 years.
6. A quote for much needed renovations of the upstairs washrooms has been completed. New floors are needed as the current ones are asbestos tiles and a safety hazard. The estimated cost for this is approximately $3,500.00 and could be done upon Congregational approval.
7. The taxation/donation filings will be completed by February 15th, 2018. Should anyone’s address be different from the directory, please see Sue Clement prior to the end of January so the forms can be completed without error.
8. A Christmas Dinner was held in early December and was enjoyed by approximately 72 people. It was a great success.
9. Alison Quaratesi and Chris Liew have conquered a system for the Sunday Offering/Donations deposits and recordings. Thank you both so much!
10. Snow Removal: A contract was signed with our snow removal company at the same rate as last year, with conditions remaining the same.
11. Thanks to Orkin Pest Control, we had a successful schedule for ridding the church of our “Church mice.” Thank you to everyone who helped coordinate clean-up and the organization of food items in cupboards.
12. The kitchen was cleaned and remains in great shape. Thank you to Emily and her Team for taking the time to do that and for replacing much needed kitchen utensils.
13. An inquiry and comparison has been done for a Post Office metering machine to cut costs with church mailings and the cost of Canada Post stamps.
14. Rental Partners:
1. House of God
2. Glory Mandarin
3. Brent Irwin Thursday night Volleyball
4. LittleKicker’s Saturday morning training sessions
5. Mentortainment Saturday morning sessions and training
